The Camargue, a single place of natural beauty was born 5000 years ago from the merging of the Rhone river and the Mediterranean sea. It is, after the Nil, the second delta in this sea.

The Camargue is a huge territory that goes from the Crau plain to Aigues-Mortes. It has in its heart the natural reserve of the Camargue that goes from the north of the Vaccarès pond to the sea.

The best way to discover it, is certainly by foot or on a bicycle from the sea embankment to the Gacholle lighthouse.

An excursion on a Camargue horse in the marshland or on the beach is a good way to discover the variety of faun, flora, rice fields, salicorne and saladelles that are the local plants.

If you like birds and taking photos, a lot of migratory species like pink flamingoes or orns will be close enough for wonderful pictures in the ornithological park of "The Pont de Gau" and if you are patient you will perhaps see the philomele nightingale or beavers.

Let's not forget in this trip along the Camargue : DI BIOU. The local and famous bull, grown up in the different manades, sort of local farms. This bull is used for different reasons, the most popular being a sort of sport called "Course Camarguaise" and Abrivados.

In the Camargue, you will also visit cities like Arles, Its roman remains and its traditional people" Arlesiennes". But also Aigues-Mortes, its famous ramparts and the "Tour de Constance" all surrounded by saline that take a pink color at the end of summer. You will visit" Les Saintes Maries de la Mer", the Camargue capital, famous for its sanctified and the gipsy procession to the Black Virgin "Santa Sara" in may, its traditional culture, the gardians (local farmers) and their houses with reed roofs.

Every season has its own charm. You will certainly love it for its feeling of freedom at the end of the world and a nice feeling of serenity.

By bicycle or by foot
Discover the Regional Park of Camargue, with many tours from Les Saintes Maries de La Mer, a 26 kms ballad to the Gacholle lighthouse, or a nice walk around the pond of Vaccarès (70 kms) for the more adventurous. Guests can rent bicycles on site and if you have one, you could park it in our garage.

Water sports
10 minutes from Les Saintes Maries de la Mer: you could have the opportunity to explore the Camargue by renting sea canoes and kayaks.
For thrill seekers, practice kite surf in Beauduc or discover the yachting in the middle of flamingos and horses. Introduction to paddle boarding, surfing, windsurfing and catamaran.
For lovers of tuna fishing in Mediterranean sea: early departure from the port of Les Saintes Maries de La Mer, for a day or more. (our breakfasts can be served early in the room if needed)

Visit a bull breeding in Camargue, they are intended to Bandido races, abrivados and games in the arena. The herdsmen will show you their cheptel and will give you more information on their profession. Bulls are kings in Camargue.

Visit Les Saintes Maries de La Mer and surroundings
The church, with its crypt housing the statue of Sara, the Black Virgin, Patroness of the Gypsies. The relics are preserved above the nave. Visit the village and discover the old town hall, the tomb of Marquis de Baroncelli, the statue of Mireille and typical Camargue houses. A few kilometers away: the Château d'Avignon and the museum of the Camargue.
